LochWatch volunteers and the emergency services were alerted around lunchtime on Sunday 9th September 2012 to an incident in the loch off Inverinan.

A report had been received of an explosion and smoke on the loch while a small boat with two people on board was in the vicinity.

Coastguard rescue teams from Oban and Inveraray; a Royal Navy rescue helicopter from Prestwick along with police units from Oban and Lochgilphead attended on both sides of the loch.

LochWatch volunteers reported what they saw and heard and were able to provide valuable information to the emergency services.

After extensive searching is it believed that the explosion and smoke came from land on the east side of the loch and that no boat was involved.

The emergency services pass on their thanks for the help given by the LochWatch volunteers.
